Burj Khalifa in Dubai

In previous articles we’ve taken you to different towers and skyscrapers like the Sky Tree in Tokyo, and the Torre Latinoamericana in Mexico. Today, prepare to visit one more of our favorite destinations: the Arab Emirates. There you’ll find the Burj Khalifa, a world-class building located in the heart of Downtown Dubai that will surprise you with its architectonic style and great height. Its main characteristics are: it’s modern, intelligent and it was created with high-end technology that’s also eco-friendly.

Before you pack, read this: in Dubai there’s no specific dress code, so unlike other nearby destinations, you’ll be able to dress however you want. Also, you don’t need to learn to speak Arab because the locals are used to communicating with tourists in English.

Burj Khalifa Construction

All right! It’s time to visit the tallest building in the world whose construction began in 2004 and which was inaugurated in 2010. It reaches 828 meters –almost one kilometer!–, so you’ll spot it even from the plane. Thanks to its height of 162 floors (60 more than the Empire State in New York) it also possesses the longest elevator facilities and the highest occupied floor in the world.

As a visitor you can go to level 124, approximately at 452 meters, from where you’ll be able to enjoy the urban landscape heaped with modern design hotels and hip shopping centers that engulf this amazing architectonic work.

Burj Khalifa Scenic Lookout

DINKtravelers recommends making a reservation to visit the tower’s overlook; preferably at night so you can photograph the diverse lighting colors produced by Dubai’s concrete and glass buildings –the ticket cost for this breath-taking visual experience is of 25€, approximately.

Burj Khalifa Hotel

Apart from the overlook you’ll also find other services in the building including a hotel with over 300 luxurious suites, and haute-cuisine restaurants that are great options for romantic dinners. At the same time, if you like working out, you can exercise in any of its four luxurious gym floors.

Burj Khalifa Office Rent

Likewise, if you want to open new offices for your company, you’ll love to learn that the Burj Khalifa is an important economic center and that several renowned corporations have their offices in one of the 37 available business floors.

Burj Khalifa Design Concept

One more interesting fact about the building is that its design was inspired by the hymenocallis, a type of flower that grows in the sand and that is usually found in Mexico and Guatemala. As far as its name goes, it was chosen in honor of the Arab Emirates’ Chief of State in turn: Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
