Discovering Oʻahu Island in Hawaii
A crystal clear ocean, blue skies, tasty food, breathtaking scenery, and nice relaxing spa treatments…this is the setting that will redefine “pampering yourself”. Today, DINKtravelers would like to introduce you to a superb destination: Oʻahu Island in Hawaii.
Flights to Oahu
Hawaii is located in the central Pacific Ocean and it was the 50th state to join the United States. It’s made up by 8 main islands, which are: Niʻihau, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi, Kahoʻolawe, Maui, and Island of Hawaii, and each one has different characteristics. Our destination, Oʻahu Island, is called ‘Gathering Place’ and it’s the third biggest island in Hawaii.
You can get to this lovely island by flying to Honolulu airport. Choose an early flight so you can breathe in the morning air of this tropical island.
The Best Breakfast in Oahu
Then, charge your batteries with a hearty breakfast. We recommend the pancakes, which are very famous there. Actually, there are several varieties of pancakes dough like extra fluffy, and dough with banana or crunched macadamia. We know all these flavors seem very tasty but we recommend trying the traditional dough with fruit toppings. Too simple? You’ll be surprised! You won’t be able to see the pancake underneath the mountain of fruits. It will be a fresh treat for your tired stomach after a long flight but it will also offer many vitamins. Maple syrup and whip cream are a must. Trust us, the combination of fruits and comforting fluffy pancakes will fill up your stomach and renew your strength.
What to do in Oahu
Next go to the sandbar (Ahu o Laka in Hawaiian) where you will see a beautiful beach and clear ocean. There you’ll find the Goddess of Hula, since Laka consecrated hula to the goddess of fire, Pele. It’s a sacred place for hula dancers and it’s also known as a healing spot. Located in Kaneohe bay, Northeast of Oʻahu Island, Ahu o Laka can only be reached by boat. You’ll be able to spot it in the middle of ocean, unique and wondrous, depending on the time and season. Its beach is white thanks to the minute pieces of coral that conform it, so it will inspire you to practice different activities like walking, snorkeling, turtle watching or preparing a Hawaiian BBQ.
Join a local tour to enjoy all this and more, and don’t forget to bring sunscreen, a towel and swimwear – there’s no place where you can change your clothes. Also, bring a long sleeve jacket for the evening because it might get chilly. And here’s a little secret: you can bring your favorite booze to enjoy even more!
After engaging in so many activities recharge your body at a nice relaxing spa. You’ll find lots of spas in different settings like gardens, hotels, etc. Pamper yourself and enjoy your precious time in this destination.
Make Oʻahu Island your next stop. You won’t regret it!
