Doctor’s Restaurants in Japan

Gourmet cuisine is one of the most enjoyable parts of a journey, and for foodies who are also health-conscious, Japan is a fantastic destination. In 2013, washoku (traditional Japanese cuisine) was designated Intangible Cultural Heritage by the UNESCO, so it’s unquestionably worth trying. Still, Japan is not only famous for washoku. It also has a good reputation when it comes to healthy foods and sweets.

Health Tourism and Nutrition

When traveling to Japan you won’t have to worry about your diet because there are several venues called “doctor’s restaurants” that offer attractive menus full of healthy dishes which are, actually, surprisingly tasty and gourmet.

As you can easily imagine from the name, these restaurants are something related to health specialists. There, each menu includes recommendations made by doctors as well as nutritionists. Based on their advice, chefs cook and serve fabulous recipes, so they are all balanced, healthy and tasty dishes. Interestingly, there are special menus for people with diabetes, dyslipidemia, high-blood pressure and so forth. This is excellent news if you suffer from any of these ailments! Now you don’t need to give up the chance to enjoy lovely food during your journey. Also, if you want to get a beauty treatment during your vacation, order an anti-aging main course or indulge in an energizing specialty. After this appetizing meal, you will surely have a craving for dessert and sweets. At first, you might want to avoid eating them thinking they’re not healthy. Good news! Again, you needn’t worry! In Japan there are healthy and luscious cakes whose main ingredients are selected vegetables provided by local farmers. These suppliers don’t use agricultural chemicals or fertilizers so they only produce safe, flavorsome and good-for- you organic vegetables.

In addition, these cakes don’t include white flour or refined sugar. Instead, they are made with Japanese wheat flour, which doesn’t contain postharvest chemicals. Also, the benefit of using organic eggs is that they don’t have antibiotic residues, antimicrobials or artificial coloring. And even better, they are made with healthier beet sugar, which is produced in Hokkaido, north of Japan. Thanks to these tweaks, vegetable cakes are safe, natural and delicious.

Furthermore, they’re not only tasty for your mouth but also for your eyes. Imagine strawberry shortcake with a cute cherry tomato on top. Just as tasty, there’s a half-moon shaped cheesecake topped with sliced avocado in lemon jelly. Finally, there’s the tomato Swiss roll. This cake’s lovely pink dough contains basil and olive oil and it’s rolled around tomato and cheese cream. Definitely, we are pretty sure your mouth watered, and best of all, will, without doubt, satisfy your cravings in a healthy way.

Enjoy this superb cuisine!
